Associated for the first time with Days Off, the Orchester de Paris accompanies the pianists Katia and Marielle Labèque for a hand-sewn program, with dance as a common thread, and a major event: the world premiere of Nico Muhly's concerto for two pianos.

Since its creation, Days Off has always been the playground of curious and inventive musicians, for whom the labels must be peeled off, cut out and re-glued like a puzzle. A mix of genres that Nico Muhly has already embodied in the festival's programming, presenting the fabulous Planetarium alongside Sufjan Stevens and Bryce Dessner in 2012 and 2017. This year, the brilliant New York composer is reserving at the Philharmonic from Paris the premiere of In Certain Circles, concerto for two pianos, a marvel of finesse served by two of the greatest pianists of our time, Katia and Marielle Labèque. A commission from the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, the Tonhalle Düsseldorf, the Düsseldorf Symphoniker and the Orchester de Paris, which will also perform that evening Rachmaninoff's Symphonic Dances (1940) and the wonderful piece The Chairman Dances by the American composer John Adams, written in 1985 alongside his legendary opera Nixon in China.
